The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), through its Science Communication and Science Awareness Platform units participated in the 7th Eisef Limpopo science festival from 19 to 25 April 2015 at Polokwane Showgrounds. The five days festival, organised by SLEG consulting, provided primary and high school learners from different areas in Limpopo with an opportunity to learn about various science and technology and career opportunities.

The HySA PADEP programme participated in the event, through an exhibition stand and shared with learners career opportunities in the fields of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Educators and learners received career brochures, pocket periodic tables, fact sheets and posters for their schools.

Learners visiting the stand were not familiar with hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and  did not know how these technologies could play a role in our lives. However, many expressed interest in the technologies, with many wanting to build their own fuel cells.

Events like these form part of HySA PADEP’s objective to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and engage the public on the potential benefits of these technologies.
